Compassion Fatigue - Mini
The first step to effective caregiving begins with self-care.
Service Description
At some point in our lives, it is most likely we will be in some type of caregiver role, either personally or professionally. Personal caregiver roles include parents, adult children caring for aging parents, animal caregivers, volunteers, unhealthy relationships, etc. Professional caregiver roles can be anything from nurses, veterinarians, teachers, managers/leaders, counselors, and many more. While these roles are a wonderful expression of love, empathy, and compassion, they often cause personal distress. Most caregivers are other-directed beings - always putting others first. Caregiving roles often consume the caregiver, creating a pattern that typically results in neglect of self-care. In this mini-class, we will explore the signs and symptoms of Compassion Fatigue to help you recognize them personally. We will discuss triggers, and why caregivers tend to give outwardly and neglect inwardly. In addition, we will explore approaches to create a practical self-care plan that aligns with your lifestyle, to leave you feeling rested, refreshed, and able to resume your caregiver role(s) with energy and a renewed sense of purpose. Need a break? Sign up for the Compassion Fatigue Mini today. *If you are in a professional caregiving role that requires continuing education credits, the full course is still available to earn contact hours for nurses, vets, and vet techs. Not into group learning? Not a problem. Contact Michelle to discuss private session options or options for your personal group.
